I just love this film so much

Isn't it wonderful!?

The bare bones of the story is done in indie cinema often, but it's so thoughtfully, carefully put together! Aside from acting and editing, there's such beauty in the shots, playfulness of some of the slo-mo or cuts, joy in how it's happy to linger with characters or movement of the circus performers. It really make it worth coming back to again and again.

It was also what introduced me (Mel) to Tracy Wright's work, and from there Don and then the Toronto New Wave. I'd seen some movies Tracy was in, but Patricia so clearly highlights her and Don here, I went down a rabbit hole, and was delighted to find so much they'd done together and the work they'd all put into their community film scene.

Oh that awesome. I love it when a movie inspires a new rabbit hole journey! I actually got to speak to Rozema about this film (and others) last year. It was a dream interview. https://www.autostraddle.com/patricia-rozema-interview/

I have an instant affinity for Rozema here because I also use the 'multiple moleskines but sometimes categories and sometimes not and sometimes notes on my phone' method.

But everything from your drawing lines between misfits and her musing on religion is lovely; thanks for writing, and then sharing.

I'm going to need to track down White Room *immediately* (and a few more soon!)
