Week 26.02 - MY LIFE IS MURDER Socials Roundup
05 Jan - 11 Jan 2026: MY LIFE IS MURDER Season 1 Title Cards
Week 26.02 posts include some of our favourite ‘title reveal’ shots from My Life is Murder (2019-current).
Like Atlanta’s title cards, My Life is Murder changes its title card every episode. What’s different is My Life is Murder works the title into the scene, sometimes a literal part of the architecture or scenery, often riffing on an element of the episode or scene which has already been introduced.
Here are some of our faves from Season 1!
“The Boyfriend Experience” (1.01)
Showing not one but two Melbourne icons — Flinders Street Station and a tram — in your pilot episode helps establish where Alexa is doing her sleuthing!
“Remains to Be Seen” (1.08)
In the ‘setup’ shot (0:00-0:04), a doc draws attention to the monitor in the corner by pushing buttons; then after the jolt, the camera cuts to that monitor in the foreground in focus and newly angled (for more drama!), before the lines draw in the title card.
“Feet of Clay” (1.05)
Full disclosure, this is mostly in here because I (Mel) have uttered some version of Alexa’s rant* at the “don’t walk / walk” signals.
However, I am also amused they make use of the “don’t walk pants / walk skirt” signals, which are the actual lights at several crossings in the Melbourne CBD.
*I have an additional rant about why the push-buttons are not only a huge waste of money, but mostly serve to make streets less safe for everyone but especially pedestrians, while also making it harder for everyone not driving a car and particularly cyclists and wheelchair users.
But, I digress . . . unless you’re a politician who wants to listen or a writer’s room who wants to hire me!
“Old School” (1.07)
One of My Life is Murder’s more meta title cards, this cops the 1985 camcorder style of its cold-open flashback!
“The Locked Room” (1.02)
A moving shot to reveal an ‘in situ’ title card is always fun, but it’s really the seagull sounds offscreen and the punctuation of the shot which earn its spot on this list!
